Mumbai: Yesteryear Bollywood superstar Rajesh Khanna, who was said to have stopped food intake and fallen critically ill last night, is hale and hearty, according to his son-in-law Akshay Kumar.

Akshay, who is married to his daughter Twinkle, today visited the 69-year-old actor at his residence Aashirwad where he made Khanna wave from his balcony at the mediapersons waiting outside.

His estranged wife Dimple Kapadia was by Khanna's side.  “He is absolutely fine, healthy and hearty. It was all rumours that he is unwell. On the contrary, he is more than fine. The information that you people have got is absolutely wrong,” Akshay told reporters outside Khanna's residence.  Khanna's manager had last night said that the actor is unwell.

Earlier in April, Khanna was admitted to hospital following uneasiness and weakness.  The veteran actor, considered Bollywood's first superstar, has acted in over 150 films. Fondly called ‘Kaka' by his fans, Khanna ruled the industry in the 1960s and 1970s with films like “Aaradhana”, “Anand” and “Bawarchi”.

“Rajesh Khanna's health is fine,” a doctor attending to him said.

“His health is better than before. For the last two days he was not eating anything but now he has started eating.

He is better. He is fine now,” the doctor added.  Actor Akshay Kumar later tweeted, “All those spreading rumours, a humble request, get your facts right before reporting.

And for those genuinely concerned & inquiring about my father in-law's health, he is doing fine now & on the road to recovery. Thank you for your good wishes.”
