Peshawar: Bollywood legend Raj Kapoor's ancestral home in Peshawar, Pakistan is falling apart after high intensity earthquake of 7.5-magnitude hit the country last week.
According to the reports published in Tribune, massive cracks have appeared in the building structure and it can collapse any time if authorities do not take action on time.
The deadly earthquake, that struck Pakistan on October 26, killed around 271 people and injured over 2,000 others. While many others buildings collapsed in this earth storm, Raj Kapoor's house facade also suffered deep fractures.
As per neighbours, the building is unsafe and can probably collapse at moment.
“Huge cracks have developed on every side of the building and we fear it can fall on our heads at any time,” says Badshah Khan, who works in a shop that is part of the haveli.
Raj Kapoor, dubbed as ‘The Showman', was born in the haveli on December 14, 1929. The legendary actor who ruled the Indian film industry is still alive in the memories and hearts of the audiences.
Unfortunately, his ancestral property in Pakistan couldn't find a care taker following a controversy on the ownership of the building.
As of now, the provincial government has failed to adequately care of the Kapoor haveli and houses of other famous cinema actors in the country which was once a part of India before partition.
