New Delhi: Recently, there has been a lot of buzz about the ‘big' clash between two most awaited movies of the year.
The aforementioned movies are ‘Dilwale' and ‘Bajirao Mastani'. ‘Dilwale' has an ensemble cast which includes Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. ‘Bajirao Mastani' on the other hand has actors Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra.
While both the movies have been the talk of town since a while now, a lot has been said and written about the ‘Dilwale' and ‘Bajirao Mastani' clash.
However, what's been catching attention are the ongoing protests and propagandas against both the movies demanding a stay on their releases.
Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra who is quite agitated with the ongoing protests, took it to micro-blogging site Twitter to express her anger.
The diva wrote a long tweet slamming people wanting to ban the films. Priyanka tweeted, “I can't help staying silent on this anymore.. It's too sad to see how films and actors become political pawns! Bans based on baseless propaganda.. Holding films ransom just before they release so that publicity can be garnered for certain agendas by forcing a producer to their knees.. How does no one speak up for what is right? How is this fair? People think films r just fun and games to make?! They r made with blood sweat and tears for entertainment!! Pls stand by the filmmakers who put in their life's money and hard work to make people laugh and smile. Don't let them be blackmailed and threatened by holding their films ransom just before release. Speak up before if there is an issue!! Everyone has a right to an opinion. The timing right before release just seems very suspect!! I know I may get into trouble for saying all this but I can't be a silent witness to character defamation based on opinions anymore.. That is not what, the India I grew up, taught me.”
Recently, a section of Raj Thackeray-led MNS raised demand to boycott SRK's ‘Dilwale', reportedly, accusing him of not giving financial aid to the drought-hit farmers of the state.
Similarly, ‘Bajirao Mastani' director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was also, reportedly, accused of altering the historical facts and faced protests.
However, ‘Bajirao Mastani' actress Priyanka, has given a befitting reply to the protestors this time. Although the actress is well aware that her statement might land her in trouble, but that did not stop her from voicing her opinions.
