New Delhi: For those who are not interested in watching the saas-bahu sagas and family politics, between the heavily made-up sari clad ladies or the men in designer wear, then here are some crime shows that air across the Indian channels, which will keep you glued to your couches.
Crime Patrol: The popularity of Crime Patrol is quite high that airs on Sony on weekends. The show is so popular that it keeps people awake till late night to watch latest episodes. This show is not just a show that airs crime stories but is a true depiction of real life happenings presented in a dramatised form.
The suffix “Dastak” i.e “Knock” was added later to Crime Patrol which denotes that most of the victims do not take the socials happening seriously. They are either are ignorant or are not careful enough.
The show is anchored by Anoop Soni that has gathered a large number of fans by now. The series shown in the channel makes people aware about the heinous crime happening around us. The show is presented in such a way that will not threaten you but will make you conscious enough with that extra punch and appeal. Overall, to make the show convincing is the major responsibility of the host.
The first season was premiered in 2003 and was hosted by Diwakar Pundur who was later replaced by Shakti Anand. But the show gained its popularity in the second season when Anoop Soni and Sakshi Tanwar (who is no longer with the show) jointly commenced the show.
Savdhaan India: Next channel that also airs true crime stories is Life OK. It too has joined the bandwagon and is tremendously doing well. Savdhaan India anchored by Sushant Singh with few other hosts is performing well with the galloping TRP. The channel treats the show as the campaign against violence and crime. The show did specials like “100 episodes, 100 stories” that were perfectly timed and because of it the show has got amazing response. It immediately drives the message home.
It not only teaches how to handle a difficult situation but it also gives alternatives to people if in case they see some sort of crime happening. This show tells one how to safeguard oneself and protect ones family as well.
Shaitaan: Colors is another Indian television channel that airs Shaitan- “The Criminal Mind” on Weekend. It is hosted by Sharad Kelkar. The show is well- known for narrating real life crime stories. It explores more of the socio-psychological roots of the criminal and concentrates more on the criminal than on the crime whereas the other two programs focus on the crime as well as the social issues.
Gumrah that is aired on Channel V mainly deals with youngsters who indulge criminal activities either forcefully or via their peer group. But, here the host Karan Kundra is not able to woo the fans as he is not able narrate the story well. As, it's a hindi channel the show too should be shown in Hindi but here it's something different. The host uses English a lot than Hindi which has led the show to get thin TRP. Not only this but many of the episodes of the show appear to be fictional that dilutes the originality of the show.
