New Delhi: Happy New Year, which was leading ahead in the race at box office is finally left behind by Aamir Khan starrer PK with a good margin. The movie, which also stars Anushka Sharma, Boman Irani, Sushant Singh Rajput and Saurabh Shukla, within six days of its release minted Rs 154.84 cr nett in India.
Happy New Year which till Tuesday was at top is shifted to number two for its comparatively lesser six days collection of Rs 148.36 cr than PK.
What's surprising is that PK from Tuesday witnessed a rise in its collection and earned Rs 19.56 cr nett on Wednesday, according to leading daily Koimoi.
This is phenomenal turnaround and proves how much popularity the movie is garnering.
Aamir Khan's Dhoom 3 still rules the charts with Rs 174.97 cr in six days. Salman Khan starrer ‘Kick' is at the third spot, which minted Rs 148.66 cr in India.
Hrithik-Priyanka's ‘Krrish 3' takes third spot with the collection of Rs 139.54 cr nett in India within same time period while Shah Rukh Khan's action-comedy ‘Chennai Express' is at fourth position since it did business of Rs 137.1 cr (including paid preview collection).
Now today being a Christmas holiday, a huge rush in theatres is expected and anything more than Rs 30 cr would be brilliant. This should wrap up PK's first week total to around Rs 180 cr which would be second biggest one week total.
Till now it's Aamir Khan's very own Dhoom 3 holding the record to gross maximum in its first week with a total of Rs 185 cr nett amount. Let's see if PK manages to beat that.
Here are the six days figures of PK-
Fri cr 26.63 cr, Sat 30.40 cr, Sun 38.24 cr, Mon 22.40, Tue 19, Wed 19.56- Total Rs 136.61 cr.
