Movie review : Do not activate your mind when you watch Khiladi 786

Rating: **1/2 Film: Khiladi 786 Director: Ashish R Mohan Cast: Akshay Kumar, Asin Thottumkal, Mithun Chakraborty, Raj Babbar, Himesh Reshammiya If you are a die-hard fan of action movies like Dabbang , Rowdy Rathore and Singham then definitely this movie is for you. But if you try to use logic, intelligence, and make sense out of the movie and do not like South-styled stunts where a one-man army fights a bunch of deadly goons then definitely this movie is not for you. Khiladi 786 has all the conventional elements that a typical masala film has – a bad cop, a runaway bride, a lecher goon, songs after every few minutes… The film is for masala loving audience and the director has no qualms about admitting it. While previous Khiladi movies were full of action, this movie has director Ashish R Mohan's touch. This movie is not hilarious, but it has definitely some funny dialogues.Some scenes bear a total resemblance to Golmaal and Singham. Ashish assisted Rohit Shetty in all his movies including the hits Golmaal, Golmaal Returns, All the Best: Fun Begins and Golmaal 3. The concept of having an African and Chinese in the family is so funny. Also, the lost-in-mela brother surfacing in the end may look ridiculous, but makes you smile again. The music of the film is nothing special. Some songs are catchy, but the only good thing about them is the beats. The movie is about the family where, Bahattar Singh (Akshay Kumar) is a local hooligan who helps the cops in Punjab police catch smuggled goods.His entire family, including Sattar Singh (Raj Babbar), Ekhattar Singh (Mukesh Rishi) have been doing the same work even as they run an akhada (wrestling arena) in their backyard. Due to their bad deeds, no girl in India is ready to get married into their family. Akshay's mother is a Canadian, grandmother a South African and aunt a Chinese lady. In another setting, Tatya Tukaram Tendulkar (Mithun Chakraborty) is a famous gangster whose sister Indu (Asin) refuses to marry the few decent boys who agree to get married to her. Mansukh (Himesh Reshammiya), who is a match-maker by profession, tries to arrange the marriage of Bahattar and Indu. A whole lot of lies and innumerable confusing twists later, the film manages to come to an end. Akshay has done nothig new in this movie. He has already done this type of comedy, Punjabi guy act and action sequences in his previous films too. Asin looks beautiful in the movie, but unfortunately, she has nothing to do in the movie.The movie can only be fun if you leave your grey cells at home. In the second half, if you are done with your popcorn or other stuff ,you won't wait for a single minute to go out to the beverage counter whatever extra time it takes. Thankfully, the movie ends with some action. Go in with dollops of patience and carry some cotton for your ears.
