Miss Lovely movie review: A splendid watch

Miss Lovely is a splendid watch. Something untouched so far in Bollywood and something which couldn't have been better treated.Stars- Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Niharika Singh, Anil GeorgeDirector- Ashim AhuwaliaWe have memories filled with the numerous shades of dark city of Mumbai. While it has many things to applaud, under its belly there are others which all are ashamed of and are needless to be realized here. Pornography doesn't have an epicenter in any city but it could be shot in every other city. Having said that, it won't be unwise to term the ‘Mayanagri' as the originator for those banned clips. Director Ashim Ahuwalia delves into the creation of these third class films, which were in rave demands during late 80's and early 2000 and exposes a shocking reality tied for a long time. Ashim outlines the era where erotic horror dramas were sensationalized and the sexes had this as a new mode to satisfy lust. He narrates the tale of Sonu (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) and his elder brother Vicky (Anil George) producing cheap films in Mumbai. Sonu comes across a lady Pinky (Niharika Sigh) and falls head over heels over her innocence. But her entry creates a tiff between the two brothers and eventually they face a major setback in their dirty business.Praises need to be showered over director who has guts to drop the light over an untouched section which the traditional cinema turned a blind eye over. His drama is erotic but non-vulgar. His characters are loud but influencing. The portrayal is mind-disturbing but is picture-perfect. Thanks to cinematographer Mohanan, the director takes us through the seedy lanes of the Mumbai and addresses the milieu following the authenticity. Goes with it is the fraction of lust and porn movie making initially which takes heady turn sooner.The betrayal, jealousy and damned love takes over the prudent going drama. We are deemed to look upon the cinema which turned into a selfish sector of money-making. Under this is our protagonist Sonu, who deserves our sympathy for being demolished by this sector and facing the ire of the society.Ashim, who eschews big stars for his dramas-documentries, fits in Nawazuddin Siddiqui into this character. He made it in 2012 and Siddiqui Saab is the same exciting artist who never shows his back to the formulaic cinema. He is an efficient artist and proves it big time again. Anil George gives his best expression for the play. Niharika Sigh is a surprise. The required innocence is best accomplished by her in the flick.
