Patna, Jul 11: Bhojpuri cinema superstar Manoj Tiwari's 11- year marriage is on the rocks and he is desperately appealing for help “ from anybody” to save his rocking matrimonial boat, reports Mail Today.His publicist Shashikant Singh said Tiwari would consider anybody who could convince his wife, Rani, to drop her demands for a divorce, a messiah .
“ I shudder at the prospect of living away from my wife and daughter,” he said in his appeal. “ I do not want to see my home ruined.” Tiwari, widely credited with having revived the moribund Bhojpuri film industry with his 2003 blockbuster movie Sasura Bada Paisawala , said anybody who would help him save his marriage would be akin to god for him.“ I would unconditionally welcome any gentleman who could convince my wife to give up her divorce plans,” he added.
Tiwari and Rani, an aspiring singer, recently filed for divorce at a family court in Mumbai which gave them six months to sort out their differences.But Tiwari insisted that he had not signed the divorce papers willingly.
“ It was my wife who sent me the divorce papers through her lawyer in January 2010.”The Bihar- born singer- turned-actor said he had tried his best to convince his wife ever since he received the divorce papers.“ It was because of the constant pressure from my wife that I agreed to sign the mutual divorce papers on June 22,” he stated.
“ I did that because I found that my wife had turned bitter and angry and had been living under constant tension.”Sources close to the filmstar said Tiwari's marriage had been on the rocks for the past couple of years as his wife had suspected him of having an extramarital affair with actress Shweta Tiwari, winner of the television reality show Bigg Boss 4 , who was also his lead actress in two of his Bhojpuri films, Kab Aibu Anganwa Hamaar and Ae Bahuji ke Sister .
Later, they were seen together as participants in Bigg Boss 4 . But Tiwari denied the allegations as rumours. “ I have not had any affair with Shweta,” he said.
“ People have seen that on the television show. I still love my wife very much. I have not done anything for which I should be ashamed.”
Tiwari and his wife had been living separately even before the Bigg Boss telecast got underway but it was on the show that Tiwari first revealed his marital problems.
He had even discussed it with Shweta who had expressed surprise over it.Tiwari had apparently thought that this would dispel the doubts in his wife's mind but things did not improve.
He said that he finally had to yield to his wife's demand for a divorce. The actor, who was recently conferred the “ Star of the Decade” award at a Bhojpuri film award function, said he would like to convince all his fans and wellwishers that he was not at all in favour of a divorce from Rani.“ I have not succeeded in persuading my wife. I now want somebody to prevail upon my wife to change her decision. He will be like a god to me,” he said.
