Born on May 15, 1967 in Mumbai in a Marathi-speaking Koknastha Hindu Brahmin family, she is iconic diva of Bollywood par excellence in acting.
Madhuri Dixit began her Bollywood career in 1984 'Abodh'. The film failed at box office but Madhuri earned positive reviews from critics.
It was Mohini's character in N.Chandra's blockbuster 'Tezaab'(1988) opposite Anil Kapoor, in which Madhuri tasted her first commercial success. The film went on to become that year's highest grossing movie and Madhuri won Filmfare Best Actress Award.
Movies like 'Tridev' (1989), 'Kishen Kanhaiya', 'Dil', 'Jamai Raja' (1990), '100 Days', 'Saajan' (1991), 'Beta', 'Khel' (1992), 'Khalnayak' (1993), 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!' Madhuri tied the knot with Denver-based Dr Shriram Nene on October 17, 1999. After grabbing appreciation for her role as Chandramukhi in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Devdas' in 2002, she took a sabbatical from films to raise her children.
After a gap of four years Madhuri Dixit made a comeback in 2007 with 'Aaja Nachle'. Though the movie crashed on box office, it made Madhuri's comeback easier.
Meanwhile, Madhuri took a turn towards small screen as a judge dance based reality show and soon after ruled the small screen with her charm and elan. After spending over a decade in abroad she came back to India and permanently shifted to Mumbai in October 2011 with her family.
