Mumbai, Aug 30: Though every season of popular game show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati' brings in socially relevant themes, host Amitabh Bachchan says the game show is not the solution for all problems.
With ‘power of knowledge' as the base, the makers announced ‘Sirf Gyaan Hi Aapko Aapka Haq Dilata Hai' as its communication theme for the sixth season of the show.
On why a lot of well educated people in the country were still unemployed, Bachchan said in an interview here, “That government knows. We have used the tagline - ‘Sirf Gyaan Hi Aapko Aapka Haq Dilata Hai' - for our show by which we mean that those who are educated get this platform of our game show, and if one is selected then he/she should try luck and win some amount.”
First aired in 2000 on small screen, KBC is the Indian version of the UK game show ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire?'
The theme ‘Koi Sawaal Chota Nahi Hota' in the fourth season became immensely popular and was later replaced as ‘Koi Insaan Chota Nahi Hota' in its fifth version.
“It would be wrong to say that KBC has taken responsibility of everything. The issue is sensible. This thing needs to be solved at government level and even the corporates should do it. And they are doing it...working towards it,” Bachchan said.
However, the actor says his heart goes out to the needy people who come on the show.
“When a contestant is sitting in front of me and I hear their part of story...the struggle that they go through. I control myself...I control my emotions. It is heart wrenching,” he expressed.
On how can people from places where there are no mobile phones come on the show, Big B Said, “KBC can't solve all problems. We as human beings do whatever we can through the way of charity. I don't like to talk about charity.”
Though KBC's new brand-campaign appears to be close on the heels of Aamir Khan's ‘Satyameva Jayate', the makers deny it.
“There is no similarity with ‘Satyameva Jayate'. We are not positioning our show in the same way,” said Siddhartha Basu, the CEO of BIG Synergy.
The show's sixth season begins on Sony Channel on September 7 from Friday to Sunday at 8.30 PM.
