The Kapoor family biggies Rishi, Randhir and Rajiv have registered a strong protest against Yash Raj Films' attempt to make a film on the Raj Kapoor-Nargis romance of the Fifties.
Though Ranbir Kapoor may be getting ready to play the role of singer Kishore Kumar in a film, but he might regret missing the chance to play his grandfather Raj Kapoor in a proposed Yash Raj venture.
Aditya Chopra's ambitious project based on the legendary romance of Raj Kapoor and Nargis both on and off the screen has hit a major roadblock even before it could actually take off.
Aditya mentioned to Ranbir that he was keen to make a film on the subject and after hearing him out, Ranbir went and discussed the idea with his father, Rishi Kapoor, who did not like the idea one bit.
In fact, Rishi informed his brothers Randhir and Rajiv about the proposed film and all three agreed that this was something they wouldn't support. "A film on our dad's days with Nargisji? Nothing doing. You can't do this film," the Kapoor brothers categorically told Ranbir.
The next thing Ranbir knew, all the Kapoor brothers had called up Yash Raj to register their protest. "We would appreciate it if you stop entertaining the idea of making a film on our dad and Nargisji," they told Yash Raj Films.
A source says, "Why only Randhir, Rishi or Rajiv? Even Nargisji's children Sanjay, Priya and Namrata wouldn't like such a film being made. RK Films doesn't like anybody stepping on their toes.
They never even thought of coming out with the Raj Kapoor-Nargis films in colour, though there has been a lot of demand for this." When asked about the episode, Randhir only said, "I am hearing this for the first time."
