New Delhi: Mystery has surrounded the suicide of actress Jiah Khan ever since the news came. However, a charge sheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday has brought to light many hidden and shocking details.
As per media reports, CBI has said in its charge sheet that actor Sooraj Pancholi pulled out the 4-week foetus from Jiah's body and flushed it in the toilet. Sooraj, who is now facing charges of abetting suicide, feels this will give him a fair chance to battle it out in court.
“I haven't read the chargesheet yet. I don't know who else has read it, so let's not make any assumptions. Even earlier, I had the section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) charge against me. We could not fight it out before because Jiah's mother accused me of murder and unless section 302 (punishment for murder) of IPC is ruled out, you cannot fight the abetment charges,” Sooraj told a leading daily, adding that people should desist from jumping to conclusions.
When 25-year-old actress Jiah Khan committed suicide on June 3, 2013, it left the entire nation in a state of shock. Bollywood mourned the demise of a bubbly newbie and it also brought to light the other side of being a star, besides revealing the dark side of her life, the one she shared with Sooraj Pancholi.
Jiah was pregnant with Sooraj's child and had undergone a botched abortion; something which she mentioned in her last letter too.
“We had to wait. Since the CBI has ruled out the possibility of murder, it's back to square one. Now I have a chance to fight it out in court,” Sooraj added.
He further said that he would like to focus on his career and take one day at a time. “I neither want to play any revenge games nor seek sympathy. I just want to fight the case in court and work for myself and my family. I have been quiet for the past three years and I will do so in the future. I know the truth. I respect Nafisa (Jiah) and don't wish to make any statement about someone who is not there anymore. I have no grudges,” he said.
