Mumbai: It seems casting couch is back as Bollywood actor Inder Kumar whose real name is Inder Kumar Saraf has been arrested for allegedly raping a 23-year-old model twice at his house, besides assaulting and torturing her for two days. Inder Kumar befriended her on the pretext of getting roles in movies.
"The victim alleged she had been sexually assaulted twice in the past two days by Inder Kumar who promised her lead roles in Bollywood movies, said Additional Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe. The actor was arrested and will be produced before a court tomorrow, Bharambe added.
The victim also claimed she had been assaulted and hit with a beer bottle by Saraf and confined at his house in suburban Andheri since Wednesday night. She had burn wounds on her body indicating that the actor burnt her with his cigarettes, said Harishachandra Parmale, senior inspector at the police station. The actor had worked in Bollywood movies 'Wanted', 'Maa Tujhhe Salaam', 'Baaghi', 'Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi' and 'Masoom', among others.
According to police, the victim approached the police station today alleging rape against the actor, who according to her, took her to his residence in Shantiniketan building in Seven Bungalows area in suburban Andheri on Wednesday night. The victim claimed she was raped on Wednesday night, the next day and he confined her inside the house. Upon getting a opportunity, she managed to escape from the house at about 2 AM today and narrated the incident to her sister. Then the victim approached the police. The victim and the actor had come in contact with each other in a number of parties.
During the interrogation, Inder Kumar, however, claimed he had consensual sex with the woman, police said. As per the complaint from the victim today, the actor was booked under sections 376 (Punishment for Rape), 324 (causing grievous hurt), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the police said. The victim was taken to a government-run hospital for medical examination, police said.
