Bollywood actor Imran Khan held a special screening of I Hate Luv Storys for the gay community in Mumbai on Wednesday, reports Mid Day.
His six-pack-showing shirtless scene in the film has won him many followers in the gay community, says the report.
Imran Khan, the report says, appears to have dethroned Ranbir Kapoor as the new gay heartthrob. Many in the community respond with an emphatic yes.
And, the actor's latest gesture of holding a special screening of his movie I Hate Luv Storys (IHLS) for his homosexual fan base has definitely won him more brownie points. Khan had reportedly insisted that producer Karan Johar should hold the special screening after receiving many requests for it from his gay fans.
According to Vikram Doctor of Gay Bombay, a non-commercial organisation for the LGBT community, he got a call from Dharma productions asking whether they could hold a screening for the gay community.
"They had called before the release of the movie, but we were busy with the celebrations of the reading down of Article 377, which completed on year. We received a call again, and we agreed," said Doctor.
The movie was screened at a preview theatre in Bandra, where Khan interacted with his gay fans.
"Gay Bombay contacted Dharma productions and requested for a private screening, so we obliged. I'm happy for an opportunity to interact with fans," said Khan.
"Imran's shirtless scene in the movie and his six-pack did the trick. He is the new gay icon," said a gay man.
