IFFI 2019 Day 2: Goa CM Pramod Sawant honours Amitabh Bachchan
The event, which is being h Goa, will see the attendance of 9,000 delegates and is being hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar.
The 50th edition of the prestigious International Film Festival Of India (IFFI) started off with a bang in Goa. IFFI which will be held from 20th November to 28th November at multiple venues in Goa's capital Panaji, will screen over 200 films from 76 countries, including 26 feature films and 15 non-feature films. The star-studded grand opening hosted by Karan Johar witnessed the presence of two legends on the same stage. Amitabh Bachchan, Rajnikanth and I & B Minister Shri Prakash Javdekar Prakash Javadekar flagged off the extravaganza at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Bambolim. To commemorate the grand occasion, a special postage stamp was released. Also, Shankar Mahadevan, Louis Banks delivered a mesmerizing performance for the audience. Director Madhur Bhandarkar, producer Siddharth Roy Kapur and National Award winning actress Divya Dutta walked down the red carpet.
Speaking of India’s soft powers, I & B Minister Prakash Javdekar said, “India has lots of scenic and beautiful shooting sites for national and international films but shooting at these locations requires around 15-20 permissions. Government is now preparing for single-window arrangement which will take care of all the permissions and it will benefit places like Goa, Leh-Ladakh and Andaman & Nicobar.”
Superstar Rajnikant accepted Icon of Golden Jubilee award amidst loud cheer. In his acceptance speech, the Thalaiva dedicated the award to all the producers, directors and technicians who worked in his films, his fans and people of Tamil Nadu.
