Bathinda, Nov 2: Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan was the show-stealer at the inauguration of the second edition of World Cup Kabaddi here Tuesday night, with the actor saying it was a proud moment for him to see that the game he played in his childhood days had touched such heights.

“I have got so much love from Punjab, my wife (Gauri Khan) is also a Punjabi. She also loves me much and from the love I am getting from you, now I can guess where it all comes from”, he said.

The actor said he had great attachment to the sport and he used to play it during his childhood days. “I still love the sport and I feel proud to see the heights it has reached.  Now, I smoke a bit and cannot say ‘Kabaddi Kabaddi' with same vigour as I used to say during my childhood,” he said.

Shahrukh, who was dressed in blue jeans, a black coat and a light-colored T-shirt and wearing dark glasses, enthralled the audiences with dialogues from his hit films - Don, Devdas and Baazigar.

The actor, who had come here in a chartered flight and spent nearly 90 minutes here before leaving, also danced on numbers - Chammak Challo, Chal Chaiyya Chaiyya and Chak De India.

Chief Minister Badal expressed his gratitude to Shahrukh, saying that despite the actor celebrating his birthday tomorrow, he made it a point to fly down here to make the occasion memorable.

”Some things in life are important like one's mother tongue. Likewise, Kabaddi is Punjab's sport and Shahrukh came down here on the eve of his birthday made the event all the more memorable,” Badal said.
