Mumbai, Apr 21: Isha Sharvani is in the news currently for dating Team India's Zaheer Khan and there are rumours that wedding bells will be ringing soon for the couple, but Isha is trying to be too diplomatic.
In an interview, Isha says: “I think marriage is a matter of personal choice and today's contemporary urban woman can choose to settle down when the time is right for her. There is no right age for marriage. One needs the right man to settle down.
"A woman has to think if she can let go of her ambitions and opt for marital bliss and have children. As our social values get redefined, the independent woman has a lot of choices —she could also go in for a live-in relationship if she so wishes. Marriage is a mammoth step and one needs to be absolutely sure before one makes that commitment of a lifetime.
"For me, it is not about a religious ritual. Having said that, I have nothing to say about Zaheer now.”
Isha whose last Bollywood release was Luck by Chance, confesses that she has no Hindi films in hand, and she's not worried about that either. She says nonchalantly, “I will act when I get substantial role in a film. There is nothing on my platter now.”
She may not talk about Zaheer, but she was spotted in the stands cheering for the Men In Blue during the World Cup matches.
“I have always followed cricket. It is not a new interest. I watched the finals too at the Wankhede Stadium. It was a fantastic experience with the crowd singing Vande Matram as we won. I had goosebumps.”
Ask her if she gets tired answering questions on Zaheer and she says, “I prefer to keep my life uncomplicated. I realise that when you are famous, all frivolous things such as romantic linkups are baggage that one has to deal with.
"But, I realise that I need to be happy and I won't let anything ugly touch me. I am happy when I dance. So, I don't want to devote my energies or thoughts to anything or anyone else.”
