Mumbai: Actress Parineeti Chopra, who has worked with Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Sushant Singh Rajput, says she prefers to work with the new crop of actors rather than big stars.

The 24-year-old actress said she has rejected few projects opposite some of Bollywood's biggest stars because the routine song-and-dance films does not excite her. "I have been offered a lot of films with many big actors but I have unfortunately declined them. I felt I did not have much to do. I will never do a usual film with song and dance, the character has to be important," she told PTI in an interview.

"I don't want to do a film where I have a ten minute role. Till now I have done films where my role is important. If I have a good script, then I will do it. I just don't want to be a heroine in the film," she said. Parineeti says she is glad she made the right decisions at the right time and chose to stay away from typical Bollywood potboliers.

"There were lots of masala, action films that I could have done and earned money and roamed around different locations. But I chose not to do them. Those films have released and... I am glad I did not do them," she said.

"I can't name the projects. But I don't regret not doing those projects," said the actress. Parineeti's last release was Habib Faisal's 'Ishaqzaade' in 2012 which was a superhit and also won several awards including a special mention for her at the National awards.

“I did not sign a film for eight months. I was reading one script every two days... I had so many offers but every film was in the same genre. I could have accepted the offer and earned money and could have had five film releases but I choose not be repetitive,” she said.

“I was not willing to do typical heroine roles.  Finally ‘Shuddh Desi Romance' offer came and I was excited,” she added.

The film is releasing this Friday. She will also be seen in Anurag Kashyap and Karan Johar co-production ‘Hasee Toh Phasee'.

Parineeti also has another film by Habib Faisal opposite Aditya Roy Kapoor in her kitty, for which she will begin shooting next month. After that, she will be seen alongside Ranveer Singh, Ali Zafar and Govinda in ‘Kill Dill'.

The three-film-old actress feels her knowledge of cinema has increased. “I am aware about things like camera facing, lenses, shot taking, lighting, frame, I understand these things. But I think to grow as an actor you need a longer time period,” she added.

In ‘Ishaqzaade', she had some intimate scenes with Arjun Kapoor. Asked about her approach to intimate scenes, she said, “As a girl I feel he is my actor, he is not my boyfriend or husband so you feel little awkward. It may sound philosophical, but when you shoot for it the actor in front of you may seem like a wall as intimate scenes becomes clinical.”

“When you are doing such scenes the director keeps giving you instructions, either to look up, down, left, right, hold hands, so it is all mechanical... there is no feeling to it.

Intimate scenes are easy to do. Whenever I read a script I don't differentiate between a kissing scene or an emotional scene,” she added.
