New Delhi: As we are only a month away from the last quarter of this year, it is time we had a look at what the film industry offered in 2015. The first nine months were pretty good for Bollywood with records being broken and new ones being set.

Here is the list of movies which were the highest grossers this year:

1. Bajrangi Bhaijaan

With a collection of Rs 432.46 crores in India and another Rs 193 crores overseas, this Salman Khan starrer has minted approximately Rs 626 crores worldwide. With these numbers, Bajrangi has also  surpassed the international collections of Aamir Khan starrer Dhoom 3 and is only behind another Aamir film PK.

As trade expert Taran Adarsh tweeted, this movie is an all time blockbuster. The movie based on an amazing storyline was loved by masses and critics alike and taught a meaningful lesson of love. Salman Khan shed his macho man personality to play a simpleton Pawan Kumar Chaturvedi and his equation with Munni, essayed by child artist Harshaali Malhotra, drove audiences to tears. The presence of enigmatic actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui was just like the icing on the cake.

2. Tanu Weds Manu Returns

Kangana Ranaut delivered a powerful performance with this one. Essaying double roles, she was marvellous which is why this movie minted Rs 197 crores approximately. The movie which was the sequel to the 2011 release Tanu Weds Manu, brought more fun to the masses. The first instalment of the movie was loved by audiences and the second one even more. With actors R. Madhavan, Jimmy Shergill, Swara Bhaskar and Deepika Dobriyal, this movie was a total family entertainer.

3. ABCD 2

This year turned out to be good for sequels. After Tanu Weds Manu returns, the audiences loved ABCD 2 which raked in Rs 139 crores worldwide. A sequel to choreographer Remo's 2013 release ABCD, this movie was bigger and better than it. While ABCD lacked stars who could make it noticeable, ABCD 2 had actors Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor and the multitalented Prabhudeva as their teacher.

4. Gabbar Is Back

The Akshay Kumar starrer, Gabbar Is Back, earned Rs 116 crores. This May release surpassed Akshay's January release, Baby. Having a strong message against corruption, Gabbar Is Back also featured Shruti Hassan.

5. Baby

Another Akshay Kumar starrer makes it to the list. The movie earned Rs 109 crores approximately despite being banned in Pakistan. The movie revolved around army officers who were on a task to eliminate terrorists. It was well received by audiences as well as critics.

6. Piku

Trust Shoojit Sircar to tell a family tale with perfection and he will make Piku. This simple narration of a daughter who spent her life taking care of her father earned Rs 105 crores at the box office. Deepika Padukone as Piku, Amitabh Bachchan as Bashkor Banerjee and Irrfan Khan as Rana gave audiences a lesson of love they would remember long after leaving the theatres.

7. Dil Dhadakne Do

Zoya Akhtar made this movie which traced the ordeals of the elite class in India and it minted Rs 100 crores at the box office. The cruise trip which covered most of the movie gave audiences glimpses of picturesque locations from around the globe.
