Grand Masti movie review: Watch it to torture yourself

The satirical humour isn't new in Bollywood. However, the fact can't be denied that ‘Masti' set a trend and was a gateway for adult flicks in Bollywood followed by ‘Kya Kool Hai Hum'. However, the fact can't be denied that ‘Masti' set a trend and was a gateway for adult flicks in Bollywood followed by ‘Kya Kool Hai Hum'. The question arises that does its makers retain the same respect for bringing the adult comedy revolution in Indian cinema.Indra Kumar who since Masti has given other comedy flick like Pyare Mohan, Dhamaal, Double Dhamaal to the masses has itself seen how cinema has evolved since then and thereby realising the fact the director brings forth the sequel of 2004 hit with a double doze of adult humour. His latest offering kicks off with Amar (Retiesh Deshmukh), Meet (Vivek Oberoi) and Prem (Aftab Shivdasani) who although are married to Mamta (Sunali Kulkarni) Unatti (Karishma Tanna) and Tulsi (Manjari Phasdis) respectively but are unmoved in their sexual lives thanks to the over possessive and un desperate wives.Amar, Prem and Meet are fed up from their wives, the threesome decides to reinvent their sexual fantasy at a college reunion in Shree Lal Chand University of Technology and Science (SLUTS). They are driven by the beauty of Rose (Maryam Zakaria) Marlo (Kainaat Arora), and Mary (Bruna Abdullah), the wife, daughter and sister of the college Principal (Pradeep Rawat) who is anti-romanticism and that is what perturbs the three. While the tale sounds a bit similar to its precursor, the flick drowns badly to deliver the similar slapstick which was welcomed earlier. Indra Kumar portrays the extra marital affairs of rather desperate husbands quiet illogically and bizarrely. There could have been a decency of the punches which is completely ignored here. The comic which should have amused you leaves you to vomit over those. No wonder the frontbenchers would enjoy keeping their heads and souls at home. But even they would feel boredom after few moments.We wonder what the director would have thought before making such an achy and monotonous drama which is a big blemish on the humour. Even if we ignore the narrative loopholes, we can't get over the repetitive torment given through the despicable scenes. Most of them include the flaunting of hidden assets of sexes and is immensely mocked throughout the flick.Take that scene where Hardick (Suresh Menon) donning a tight trouser accentuating his d**, terms himself a man with a golden touch or the one scene where Aftab comes out splitting the backside of a buffalo statue which worsens more when a child with his parents watch this and take it as an adventure terming it ‘a buffalo giving a human baby'. We are just left tearing our hairs on many of those afflicting occasions and at the same time feel sorry for the director.What we finally learn is that this drama is a poor record of cheap gags which wouldn't amuse any of the adult comedy fan. Anything which will amuse will be Aftab Shivdasani's better performance than the other actors. Ritesh Deshmukh follows him well but Vivek Oberoi is the weaker link in the flick or rather would say is overshadowed by other two.Sunali Kulkarni is descent. Karishma Tanna carries Genelia D'Souza's character forward. Manjari Phasdis nicely portrays the elegant bahu role.The bombshells Kainaat Arora flaunts much of her beauty, Marayam Zakaria sizzles, Bruna Abdullah is erotic but none of them act. Pradeep Rawat as the college principal is mocked. Music by Anand Raj Anand and Sanjeev Darshan is not great but will do. The songs are situational and don't occupy space in our hearts or wits.I'll go with one and a half stars for this unbearable and afflicting model of comedy.
