Dubai:  Bollywood actor Farooq Sheikh passed away in Dubai after suffering a massive heart attack this morning. He was 65.



Farooq Sheikh had come to Dubai on year-end holidays with his family and was also supposed to take part in an Asha Bhosle concert.

Family sources said, he passed away at around 6:35 am local time.

Born on March 25, 1948, Farooq Sheikh began his journey in Bollywood with the 1973 film Garam Hawa, a film based on India's partition with Balraj Sahni as co-star.

He also worked in Satyajit Ray's Hindi film Shatranj Ke Khiladi, based on Munshi Premchand's story.

Farooq Sheikh acted in Bollywood films Gaman, Umrao Jaan, Bazaar, Noorie, Chashme Buddoor, Kissi Se Na Kehna, Katha, Biwi Ho To Aisi, Gharwali Baharwali, Toofan, maya Memsaab, Ab Insaaf Hoga, Tell Me O Khuda, Shanghai, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Saas Bahu Aur Sensex and Lahore. He won the National Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2010 for his role in Lahore.

He acted in several TV serials like Chamatkar, Ji Mantriji and Shrikant, and also hosted the show Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai.

He married Rupa Jain after courting her for nine years. The couple has three daughters, Rubina, Shaista and Sanaa.
