Mumbai, Apr 13 : Punjabi Cultural Heritage Board on Friday night felicitated legends from various fields on the occasion of Baisakhi festival.
Veteran actor Dharmendra, Flying Sikh Milkha Singh, actress Neha dhupia, shooter Gagan Narang, singer Rabbi Shergill, Mahashay Dharampal of MDH Masala, fasion designer Maheka Mirpuri, former Canadian MP Ruby Dhalla, Ravi Chopra of Piaggio Ltd, were given the Punjabi Icon awards.
The evening began with performances by Punjabi pop singer Jazzy B, Satinder Satti and comedian Sudesh Lehari, of “Comedy Circus” fame.
Maharashtra Industry Minister Narayan Rane and MP Raj Babbar were the guests of honor.
Baisakhi is a Punjabi festival that farmers traditionally observe as a thanksgiving day by expressing their gratitude for the abundant harvest and praying for prosperity in future. It is also celebrated with fun and fervour by people of other religions, too.
