New Delhi, Aug 27: Bollywood star Aamir Khan today came to the Ramlila Maidan, expressed concern for Anna Hazare's health and regaled the massive crowd with a song.  Anna Hazare's campaign has seen a lot of support pouring in from Bollywood and it was the turn of the superstar, accompanied by filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, to go to the venue of the Gandhian's protest.

Anna supporters were delighted to see the star and also tagged along their friends and family members for a close look at the actor.

A true entertainer, Aamir not only spoke in support of the movement but encouraged the crowd to continue their support against anti-corruption, even when the campaign is over.

He requested the 74-year-old activist to call off his fast.

“I am scared for you (Anna). I request you to end your fast because we understand that it is a process which will continue. We need you,” Aamir appealed.  He also sang the popular song ‘Mitwaa' from his superhit movie ‘Lagaan', with Hirani. Thousands of supporters along with the actor.

“I came to know yesterday that Aamir would be coming to the maidan. So, today I informed all my friends about it and they were happy to join me here. He is a true star because he made the effort to come down here and show his support,” said Vignesh Sahay, an MBA student.

Apart from the weekend crowd, many were there just to catch a glimpse of the Bollywood star.

“My friend sent me a message in the morning that Aamir would be coming to the maidan today. Since, I have no college today I made sure that I come here to see my favourite actor. There would not be a better opportunity to see him than this,” said Swasti, a first year DU student.

There were few who were not aware of the actor's visit but were happy to see him.

“We had planned to come here since last week. We had no idea that Aamir Khan would be coming. It was a bonus for us that we got to see him,” said Anil Garg, a TCS employee, who was accompanied by his wife and 12 year-old daughter. PTI
