Panaji, Nov 27:Actress Neetu Chandra, who has been missing from Hindi movies for over a year now, says she is happy doing regional cinema as it offers much more quality and content.

The actress has worked in Bollywood films like Garam Masala, Oye Lucky Lucky Oye! and Traffic Signal. Her last release was Kucch Luv Jaisaa, which did not work well at the box office.

Chandra is also doing Tamil and Telegu cinema and has a Greek project in her kitty titled Home Sweet Home.

"I have done quality films in six years and I am not going to look at quantity. Coming from a non-film background the industry does not give you chances again and again. So I am being careful with my choices. Today regional cinema has much more quality.

"I am doing a Tamil film, a Greek movie, I do plays so I am happy doing work which makes sense. I will not do a commercial without content," Chandra told PTI on the sidelines of the 43rd International Film Festival of India.

The actress has recently turned producer with the Bhojpuri movie "Deswa", directed by her brother. She says the kind of Bhojpuri cinema which is being made today cannot be watched with family because it is so vulgar and she wanted to change that.

"Production happened to me because my brother was directing this film and financers backed out from every corner and there was this passion of making a revolutionary Bhojpuri film.

"In Bihar, only the rickshaw-pullers and auto drivers are the target audience for the kind of Bhojpuri cinema that is being made today. You can't go and watch a Bhojpuri film with family because most of the movies are vulgar and cheap," she added.

Asked about her next production, Chandra said, "I don't have the strength to make another Bhojpuri film right now because 'Deswa' has taken a lot from me. Either I can act or produce, not capable of doing both the things at the same time."

The actress has Hindi the movie Kusar Prasad Ka Bhoot and one Tamil movie with director Ameer Sultan set to release next year.
