Mumbai: Comedian Kapil Sharma has resorted to Arvind Kejriwal type response after the Maharashtra state women's commission sent him a notice for making fun of pregnant women in his popular show "Comedy Nights With Kapil".
In a posting on his Facebook account, Kapil Sharma wrote: "Js saw in news.. Meri kisi baat ka bura laga kisi ko..aur meree khilaaf Fir karwaya gaya. Sirf itna kehna chahunga k i m not a criminal .. I just love to make people laugh.. Maine kabhi kisi ki majboori ka mazaak nahi banaya.. agar maine kuch aisa galat bola hai jo sach me hi galat hai.. to public opinion le lo.. The state women's commission has asked Kapil to reply within 15 days, and if the commission is not satisfied with his reply, it can go to court.
The complainant, a women's outfit from Maharashtra, has alleged that the comedian crossed all limits and used objectionable words while making fun of pregnant women.
BJP leader and yesteryears' heroine Hema Malini was the guest at the show.
Kapil's response calling for "opinion poll' is in line with Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's response, who conducted a referendum throughout Delhi before deciding to form his government.
