B'wood biggies attend special screening of 'Bombay Talkies' (view pics)

New Delhi, Apr 28: A star- studded special screening for Bombay Talkies- a film which celebrates 100 Years of Indian Cinema, took place hereon Friday which marked the presence of Bollywood biggies namely Ranveer Singh, Gauri Shinde, Punit Malhotra, Abhishek Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Sonam Kapoor, Ritesh Sidwani, Kalki Koechlin, Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Javed Akhtar. Karan Johar who directed Rani Mukerji, Randeep Hooda and Saqib Saleem for his short film, said that 2001 was the turning point in Hindi cinema as two unique films -"Dil Chahta Hai" and "Lagaan: Once Upon A Time In India" - truly set the ball rolling for change."I think there are a lot of decades of brilliance. The 1940s and 1950s are considered golden ages of Hindi cinema. But for me, the most important year was 2001 when 'Lagaan' and 'Dil Chahta Hai' released," the 40-year-old said here Friday at a special screening of "Bombay Talkies," a film made to pay tribute to 100 years of Indian cinema.While acclaimed writer-lyricist Javed Akhtar who was also present at the special screening believes today's films are more real as compared to those made a few years ago."I feel that there is no melodrama today. I am talking about good films. Today the dialogues and conversations have become more real and characters are becoming more realistic," the 68-year-old said here Friday at a special screening of the film "Bombay Talkies".On the other side, Siddharth Roy Kapoor, managing director of Studios, Disney UTV, said here that he is looking forward to actress wife Vidya Balan's film "Ghanchakkar", which he feels looks like a complete entertainer."(Director) Rajkumar Gupta has done a great job in the film. He has written such an interesting script. Both Emraan (Hashmi) and Vidya have performed extraordinarily. From the trailer you can tell that it's a full-on entertainer," Siddharth, managing director of Studios, Disney UTV, said here."I am sure it will be a great film," he added here Friday night on the sidelines of a special screening of "Bombay Talkies"."Bombay Talkies", by four directors - Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Dibaker Banerjee and Javed's daughter Zoya, has been made in celebration of the centenary year of Indian cinema and will hit the theatres on May 3rd this year.Watch all the stars who marked their presence at the special screening of the flick.
