Mumbai, Aug 15: As Bollywood personalities conveyed their greeting on Independence Day and expressed their sense of pride in being Indians, the issue of corruption was clearly on the minds of many of them.
“However angry and disappointed I may be with today's politics, I-Day still makes me feel proud to be an Indian,” filmmaker Pritish Nandy said on twitter.
Veteran actor Anupam Kher said: “My country gives me enough reasons to be a proud Indian even when I am disheartened at times. I love INDIA. Happy Independence Day.”
“Free from prejudice, corruption. Free schooling, food, water, electricity and health care, this is my wish for my country this Independence day,” actress Tisca Chopra said.
Actress Kalki Koechlin tweeted, “Let's be free from corrupt systems in our working lives and corrupt systems in our governing forces. Have a thoughtful independence day.”
“We are a nation of many talents....let corruption not be counted as one of them. Happy Independence Day people....Keep the freedom of ur mind alive with the responsibility of ur speech and action,” actress Bhagyashree said.
Filmmaker Kunal Kohli said, “If you love your country, keep your roads clean, pay your taxes, don't complain, do something, vote, no corrupt shortcuts, be positive. Jai Hind.”
“Happy birthday India! May your children always be united, peaceful, and give them the strength to end corruption! power to the honest,” actress Raveena Tandon said.
Actor Riteish Deshmukh tweeted, “Happy Independence Day-So proud to be an Indian-Together we celebrate our Unity Indianness is d only religion we follow-JAI HIND”. PTI
