Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty- The movie filled with patriotism was helmed by South director AR Murugdoss, who was back in Bollywood after Ghajini. With a promising director, the movie starring Akshay Kumar was expected to hit the right chord with the audience and so it did. The movie made 112 cr nett in India.
Ek Villain- Mohit Suri's psychological thriller besides being a musical hit was also applauded for stars' performances particularly Ritiesh Deshmukh who displayed his grey shades in the movie. Also starring Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kappor, the movie hit a ton making Rs 105 cr nett in India.
2 States- The movie was already in buzz for numerous reasons including Alia-Arjun's sizzling chemistry, Chetan Bhagat's novel adaptation, backed by Dharma Production and Sajid Nadiadwala was a dynamic combination. Directed by Abhishek Varman, 2 States was a hit earning Rs 104 cr in India.
Mary Kom- Priyanka Chopra's "Mary Kom" was about the heart-touching and motivational past of the Manipuri boxing champion with dignity and passion. The woman-oriented film became a big hit at the box office collecting Rs.64 crore. Directed by debutant Omung Kumar, the film was one of the most inspiring biopics to have ever reached the silver screen and was made at a budget of approximately Rs.50 crore.
Queen- Kangana Ranaut played an inspirational girl next door in this highly acclaimed film. Directed by Vikas Bahl, the comedy-drama presents the life of bride-to-be Rani who decides to go on her honeymoon alone. Apart from the well-written script and a standout performance by Kangana, the film's other actors like Rajkummar Rao and Lisa Haydon also won many hearts. The Rs.25 crore film collected a whopping Rs.61 crore in India.
