Vikrant Massey announces retirement from acting at 37: 'It's time to recalibrate and go home'

Taking to Instagram, the 37-year-old Bollywood actor shared that his final two films are slated for release in 2025 after which he plans to "return home." His recent film was 'The Sabarmati Report' which released on November 15.

Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey stunned fans with a surprise announcement on social media early Monday as he revealed his decision to retire from acting. Taking to Instagram, the 37-year-old actor shared that his final two films are slated for release in 2025 after which he plans to "return home." His official statement read, "The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and everyone of you for your incredible support. But as I move forward, I realise it's time to recalibrate and go back home. As a husband, father and a son. And also as an actor."

Vikrant's latest film and controversies

As per reports, Vikrant is currently working on two films - Yaar Jigri and Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan. Recently, he was in the headlines for his film 'The Sabarmati Report'. The film was released in theatres on November 15. However, some controversies also erupted regarding the film as it is based on the Godhra incident and the subsequent riots in Gujarat on February 27, 2002. Directed by Dheeraj Sarna, the film also stars Raashii Khanna and Ridhi Dogra in pivotal roles. "The Sabarmati Report" is produced by Ektaa R Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor, Amul V Mohan and Anshul Mohan. Notably, the film was applauded by several prominent leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi. In the film, Massey played the role of a journalist determined to uncover the truth behind the entire incident.

From TV beginnings to Bollywood stardom: Vikrant Massey’s journey

Starting his acting career with the television show Dhoom Machao Dhoom, Vikrant Massey gained widespread recognition through Balika Vadhu in 2009. He transitioned to films with a debut in Lootera (2013) and secured his first lead role in A Death in the Gunj (2017). Over the years, Massey delivered notable performances in movies like Ginny Weds Sunny, Haseen Dilruba, Love Hostel, and the critically acclaimed 12th Fail and solidified his place as a versatile actor in Indian cinema.
