New Delhi: Despite of being bashed up by critics Besharam had a flying start at box office as it grossed Rs 20 cr on the opening day.
But still the flick isn't the winner at the ticket counters since the hype and the promotion tactics were so immense. Above them all, the number of prints distributed was equal to SRK's Chennai Express, which despite of its Friday (a non-holiday) release earned Rs 33.12 cr, which is way ahead of Besharam.
Even if we don't compare it with Chennai Express, Besharam falls slightly ahead of Ranbir's superhit ‘Ye Jawaani Hai Deewani' opening day collection, which enjoyed lesser number of theatres and multiplexes.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweets, “YJHD Day 1: 19.45 cr [non-holiday]. Wk 1: 107.61 cr Ε days]. Will Besharam cross 108 cr in Wk 1 Η days]? With much bigger release?”
Also Besharam enjoyed a major national holiday of ‘Gandhi Jayanti' but it didn't work for it.
Adarsh tweets further, “Big holiday 1 Oct] + Ranbir after Barfi and YJHD + Massive release... Besharam should've collected 25 cr+ on Wed. It didn't!”
But still they are expecting the flick will gross good today and tomorrow (Friday).
“Today [Thu] and tomorrow [Fri] are crucial for Besharam. The film will have to maintain the momentum to post a healthy total”, tweets Taran Adarsh.
