Mumbai: Director Anurag Basu who is looking forward to the release of his forthcoming film ‘Barfi', says, the movie would not have been made had Ranbir Kapoor not agreed to be a part of it.
The romantic comedy directed by Anurag Basu, revolves around a boy named Murphy (Ranbir), whom everyone calls Barfi. He is someone who is always ready with a prank, he is quite the charmer even though he can neither speak nor listen.
“If Ranbir wouldn't have done this movie, I wouldn't have made it. I always had Ranbir in my mind for this role. Even on the day when I was writing the 10th page of the script,” Basu said in a statement here.
Ranbir essays the role of a deaf and mute person and he excels with his intricate gestures and body language, which reminds one of Mr Beans and Charlie Chaplin.
“Ranbir as a person is very spontaneous and naughty. His aura is such that I remember on the last day of shoot, Ranbir was bidding good bye to all by hugging them. I saw how everyone was feeling that moment....they were really feeling sad,” Basu said.
“I don't know if it was RK or ‘Barfi' who created that feeling in all,” he said.
Releasing on September 14, ‘Barfi' also stars Priyanka Chopra, who plays an autistic character in the film besides Tollywood actress Ileana D'Cruz.
