New Delhi: Remember the popular TV series on Colors ‘Balika Vadhu', which made the headlines since its inception because of its concept.

The serial was about child marriage and also covered several social evils in the family drama including dowry and domestic violence.

However, it seems the stars of ‘Balika Vadhu' are quite indifferent to what they play on the screen especially when it comes to dowry.

Shocked?

Well, if the media reports are to be believed, one of the actresses from ‘Balika Vadhu', who plays an important role in the serial, has been accused of dowry harassment.

We are talking about Smita Bansal, who plays the role of Sumitra- mother-in-law of Anandi in the show.

The allegations have been made by the Smita's sister-in-law Megha Gupta, who has also registered an FIR against the actress and her family.

Megha got married to Saurabh in 2009, and was staying in London with him. However, she came back to her mother's house in Gurgaon this year, after she was allegedly harassed for dowry.

In her complaint, Megha has reportedly stated that her husband and father-in-law forced her to take up a job and took away Rs 50 lakh from her. She also accused Smita of wearing her jewellery at a wedding in Jaipur without her consent.

On the other hand, according to the media reports, Smita is quite shocked with the news and got to know about the incident from the media itself.

While, Smita's brother and sister-in-law are going through the divorce proceedings, her family is trying to figure out if the reports about the FIR are true and are planning to go with the law.
