New Delhi: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus ‘Bajirao Mastani' has been making the headlines since it was announced. And the movie became the talk of the town after it hit the theatres on December 18, 2015.
A periodical drama, ‘Bajirao Mastani' featured Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles.
Bhansali's dream project got a remarkable opening at the box office and has finally entered the 100 crore club in its second week.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#BajiraoMastani crosses ₹ 100 cr mark. [Week 2] Fri 12.25 cr, Sat 10.30 cr. Total: ₹ 108.70 cr. India biz.”
‘Bajirao Mastani' has been a slow starter all thanks to Shah Rukh Khan's ‘Dilwale' which was also released on December 18. The Rohit Shetty directorial got a bumper opening of Rs 21 croreat the box office while Sanjay Leela Bhansali's dream project had a decent start with 12.80 crore.
In the first week, there was a huge gap between the collections of the two movies but ‘Bajirao Mastani' gradually gained pace and now in the second week it's all set to take a lead over ‘Dilwale'.
Taran Adarsh also made a tweet on the on-going competion between ‘Bajirao Mastani' and ‘Dilwale', saying “The tables have turned. #BajiraoMastani leads, #Dilwale slows. Gap between the total narrows. #BajiraoMastani to overtake soon. India biz.”
So far ‘Dilwale' has earned Rs. 110 crore in the Indian market.
