New Delhi: Dum Laga Ke Haisha is set to release this Friday featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and debutant actress Bhumi Padnekar. The trailer is given thumbs up by one and all for its quirky tale. And while its genre is expected to hit the right chord with the audience, the question remains that will it be a game changer for Ayushmann who has been consistently proving his acting caliber but has failed to get any hits in his name.

Four flicks old actor Khurrana who gave a promising show with ‘Vicky Donor' was expected to give a new dimension to movies fit for niche audience that could also reach a wider section. The movie became a sleeper hit while the actor won two Filmfare Awards including Best Singer. But thereafter his Bollywood journey has been on a flip side.

‘Nautanki Saala' also starring Kunal Roy Kapur, was a flick about the theatre producer. Ayushmann gave a good act but despite cameo appearance of Abhishek Bachchan, the movie couldn't sail well at box office. Critics too gave a mixed reaction to the movie.

YRF's ‘Bewakoofiyan', dealing with a love story amidst job crisis, had Khurrana playing an influential senior executive at an airline firm. His love story with his onscreen love Sonam Kapoor is hit when he loses his job. The movie was yet again given thumps down for its bad execution.

This year's earlier release ‘Hawaizaada' was a patriotic flick, about scientist Shivkar Bapuji Talpade who constructed India's first unmanned plane, but its theme was killed by the unnecessary melodrama. This increased the account of Khurrana's bad flicks. But what essentially remained common in all these movies was his actor's stable performance.

Ayushmann never disappointed his filmmakers and fans on his acting department but unfortunately has been let down by the bad script or execution.

Now there are high expectations from Dum Laga Ke Haisha. The usual love tale of an unusual pair is the significance of this drama that should gain popularity by the positive word of mouth post its release. YRF is back with the formula of small town romance, which has worked in its favor most of the time. Banner's Ishaqzaade and Shuddh Desi Romance have been tremendously acclaimed for its story line and execution and also have kept the cash registers ringing.

And if the same goes for this Haridwar based tale, Ayushmann would have his much needed second hit this time. In the trailer he looks promising besides debutant Bhoomi and exceptional supporting cast including Sanjai Mishra but what Ayushmann needs is just a little backing from movie's screenplay.

We hope he gets that support this time around!
