Mumbai, Apr 29 : Avika Gor, the child bride of tele-soap ‘Balika Vadhu' wants to make it big in the glamour world and has her eyes set on the Miss Universe title besides becoming a successful Bollywood actress.
“For achieving my dream, I have to be mentally and physically fit. I am already on the job...to become mentally fit..I study hard and exercise well to remain physically fit,” the 13-year-old told PTI.
She says she took the end of her role in “Balika Vadhu” in her stride and was waiting for the right project to come her way. “The generation leap had to happen. The producers of Balika Vadhu wanted a girl of more than 16 years old and I am only 13,” Avika said.
But, the youngster said she is happy about her new role as the younger sister of the protagonist in “Sasural Simar Ka” a new light hearted show on Colors.
“The channel programming head Ashwini Yardi told me that this was the best show to make a comeback on television after Balika Vadhu,” she added.
Avika said playing the protagonist in Balika Vadhu and the protagonist's younger sister in ‘Sasural Simar Ka' makes no difference to her.
“I have no qualms on this issue since I have the same footage as the protagonist. The role is also interesting because I am shown as a TV buff and always enacts various characters from different soaps including those of Balika Vadhu,” she said.
The teen TV star said ‘Sasural Simar Ka' had lot of twists and turns which bring tears of joy and happiness to the viewers. “If Balika Vadhu was set in a Rajasthan village, Simar comes from a big happy family from Vrindavan. “Our father is a very strict person,” Avika said. Avika said she was a ‘A grade' student and loves all subjects from languages to science and maths. “I am yet to decide what to chose for college studies. Even though I want to become a beauty queen and actress, I will complete my education first,” she said.
When asked how she handled the success and fame as a child actor, Avika said it was upto the individual. “I am enjoying a normal childhood and I am doing everything what children of my age do. I go to school, study, play. Acting is my hobby which I pUrsue after school and when I have a day off from shooting, I play and watch television,” she added.
Avika said she was in touch with her Balika Vadhu co-stars. "The Sasural Simar Ka set is very close to that of Balika Vadhu and I went over and met everybody," she said. PTI
