Will Anushka Sharma's NH10 manage to rake in big moolah at box office?
New Delhi: Anushka Sharma is geared up for her this Friday release ‘NH10' and going by the buzz it has created with lead stars' appearances in the trailer, the movie would surely hit the right chord with the audience. But then again the big question remains will it turn out to be the box office hit with fact attached that the thriller movie has got A certificate by the Censor Board and is based on a theme, which is definitely not suitable for the faint-hearted.
In terms of cost, Anushka Sharma who has turned producer for the movie has been economical since the settings aren't flashy nor is set at different places. But the presentation is much violent.
The movie might not turn out to be a family entertainer if the trailer is anything to go by, making NH10 an apt flick for the niche audience and not for the masses.
However, there is no denying to the fact that Anushka is in the wish list of Bollywood's big filmmakers. As she will be seen in Bollywood's major projects namely Anurag Kashyap's ‘Bombay Velvet' and Zoya Akhtar's ‘Dil Dhadakne Do'.
Anushka's last flick ‘PK' was a blockbuster hit but much credit for it was given to Aamir Khan. Bollywood has set numerous examples of hit movies governed by the female actresses in the past.
While, Dirty Picture's success was the result of the hot quotient rolled in by Vidya Balan's effortless performance, Kahaani too became a hit with Balan's moving act and strong content.
Last year's ‘Queen' was a sleeper hit worldwide for once again its lead actress Kangana Ranaut's cute display of act. Priyanka Chopra's ‘Mary Kom' according to media reports grossed Rs 100 cr last year. Rani Mukerji's ‘Mardaani' too defined how women centric movies can keep the cash registers ringing at box office.
Two weeks old ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha', which is on its verge to write a success story at box office too held debutant Bhumui Pednekar's exceptional act responsible for the victory.
One thing that remains common is all these above flicks is that they all relied mostly on the positive word of mouth after their first Friday that usually went dull. All these movies gained popularity in the following days and won applauds for empowering women.
Anushka Sharma is yet another actress to break the cliché and stereotypes of Bollywood. It's the first time that the actress has ditched her glam avatar and gone all rugged and fierce in her act and appearance.
The movie might see a usual Friday this week but with positive word of mouth after getting thumps up by critics, NH10 should surely go on to make good collection at BO.
The movie however, defines the brutal reality of the hoodlums but its disturbing execution is a matter of concern. We wish the flick gets acceptability all over!
