Mumbai: Bollywood's tryst with Kashmir is not hidden from anyone and it goes a long way in history and so as with Asia's largest tulip garden in Srinagar. Right from late Bollywood actor Shammi Kapoor to Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, all have been seen romancing in the beautiful Kashmir valley on-screen. But Bollywood's romance with the valley seems to have fade away now.
There was a time when umpteen number of films were shot here, however, the number decreased when the valley was hit by militancy. Today, the filmmakers rarely flock towards the valley for the shoot. The charm and beauty of the place is now no more in films but it was prominent in films made till the 1980s like 'Kashmir Ki Kali', 'Mission Kashmir', 'Betaab' and others.
Now the filmmakers prefer to go abroad and shoot on exotic locales of Europe, Paris and other places. Even the films that are based on the valley are not shot here but abroad. If we remember then the classic cult 'Silsila' starring Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha and Jaya Bachchan, was filmed at Switzerlands'Tulip Garden.
But now with a popular state government and the Tulip Garden is open for the general public, we are sure for more tourism and more films being shot in the valley.
