ISLAMABAD: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has reportedly been so much touched by ex-prime minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain's invitation to visit Pakistan, that he has written a letter to thank him.

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan has thanked Pakistan's ex-prime minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain for inviting him to visit Pakistan and assured him that he will cross the border if he gets the opportunity.

"Thank you for your letter of March 21, 2014, and for your kind words expressed in it," Bachchan wrote in a letter dated April 18.

In the letter, the Bollywood icon has recalled his family's roots in Pakistan. "My mother's ancestral roots go back to Lyallpur now Faisalabad, where my mother was born and to Lahore Government College where she spent her educational life," he said, adding that his grandfather had been a prominent lawyer in the port city of Karachi.

"My father was also in a revenue ministerial post for the erstwhile Punjab government now in Pakistan," he wrote.

The actor thanked Pakistanis for the support and affection which they have extended him over the years. "I have very vivid and emotional memories of well wishers from Pakistan who prayed for my recovery during my injury on the sets of "'Coolie'", he said.

"I am most grateful to you (Shujaat Hussain) for your kind invitation and shall most certainly keep this in mind whenever there is an opportunity to visit your country," the letter read. He also apologized Shujaat for the delayed response to his invitation.

Shujaat Hussain, heading his own faction of Muslim League, had sent the invitation letter to Bachchan through actor Raza Murad who had visited Pakistan. He had invited Bachchan to help eliminate tensions between the two countries through his visit.
