New Delhi: Akshay Kumar and A.R. Murugadoss have proved a deadly combination with ‘Holiday-A Soldier Is Never Off Duty', which has got a superb response and has become fourth biggest opener of the year after Jai Ho, Gunday and 2 States.

The flick on Friday raked in Rs 12.18 cr nett in India. “Holiday - A Soldier Is Never Off Duty Fri Rs 12.18 cr nett. India biz”, tweets trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh.

Alia-Arjun's 2 States is third biggest opener with a spectacular earning Rs 12.42 cr. Gunday takes the second spot with Rs 16.12 on Day 1 while Salman Khan's Jai Ho is ruling the box office charts with Rs 17.55 cr.



Following them is now Holiday-A Soldier Is Never Off Duty, which is also been given a thumbs up by the film critics. According to Reliance's official report, Mumbai and Delhi/UP/Punjab are the biggest contributors where it earned Rs 4.2 cr and Rs 3.5cr respectively.

International audience too is going gaga over this action thriller. In UAE-GCC, it has recorded the highest ever single day collection for Akshay starrer.

“Holiday continues its glorious march in UAE-GCC - Fri $ 332,000 [Rs 1.96 cr]. Highest ever single day gross for Akshay starrer in UAE-GCC”, tweets Adarsh.



The flick will enjoy a clear next week, though, the other release ‘Filmistaan' has received good reviews but due to absence of any big star it wouldn't be able to give a tough competition to the former.

“Filmistaan Fri Rs 51 lacs nett. India biz. Biz expected to grow over the weekend, since the word of mouth is very good”, confirms Adarsh.

It could be recalled Akshay and Sonkashi together have given Bollywood an Rs 100 cr flick in the name of Rowdy Rathore. So, will it be second time now. Well, wait for that.
