New Delhi: It happens only in India! First there is a political statement or a not-much-liked announcement from the leaders. Then a Bollywood celebrity responds to it and then he or she is trolled on Twitter for the comment.

And interestingly, the focus shifts so much to the comment of the celebrity that the actual topic of discussion is forgotten.

A recent example of the same was seen on Tuesday and continued today as well after Mumbai policed imposed a ban on the sale of meat for four days during a Jain community's festival.

Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor had retorted on it on Tuesday, saying “Our country is going to remain a 3rd world nation because of the intolerant misogynistic close minded few (sic).” In no time she got hundreds of replies tagging her “bimbo” and accusing her of holding anti-nationalistic views.

However, this did not deter the actress. She continued to stick to her viewpoint and did not delete her comment.

However, later in the day, another Bollywood actress was trolled on the social media platform for the same reason. This was actress Sonakshi Sinha!

Sinha retorted rather satirically, mocking the irony of freedom of India. She remarked, “This is a free country! Welcome to BAN-istan... I meant india.. Stupid autocorrect. (sic)”

Following this, she further tweeted, “Why no ban on ignorance/negligence? What about the flood affected people of assam? Priorities people. Priorities. (sic)”

As expected, she received responses similar to those for Sonam Kapoor and faced a backlash for holding such a viewpoint.

Some comments shown below targeted her for holding double-standards as some time before she had urged people to promote protection of animals.
