New Delhi: Jayanta Das, who acted in films like Madras Cafe and Vicky Donor, passed away here on Wednesday after fighting a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
A veteran actor of the Delhi stage, Jayanta Das, 67, acted as a Bengali father in Shoojit Sircar's Vicky Donor, and as an Army general in Madras Cafe starring John Abraham and Nargis Fakhri.
He also acted as a school principal in the film Udaan, and as an army commander in Yahaan.
Jayanta Das also acted in several other films and TV serials.
He began acting as a teenager with a group called Shanichakra in the early 1960s. Later he joined The Players group in Delhi's Kirori Mal College before setting up Nabodoy Goshti, a Bengali theatre group.
