Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan has been invited to open the 12th London Asian Film Festival — ‘Tongues on Fire' that will be held from March 5-14, in London.
The festival is dedicated to expressing the spirit of Asian independent media and cinema cultures of South Asia. Abhishek will also be honored by the British Academy of Film and Televisions Arts (BAFTA) in association with ‘Tongues of Fire'.
He will be interviewed for the Academy's ‘A Life in Pictures' segment that covers only the very best creative talent in films. Few renowned actors and multiple award-winning filmmakers have been covered in this segment. The only other Indian actor to have been honoured here before Abhishek is his father, Amitabh Bachchan.
The festival also includes a ‘Masterclass with Abhishek Bachchan' followed by a screening of Guru. Says an excited Abhishek, “This is a huge honour that BAFTA thought me worthy of and it is wonderful to know that I am only the second Indian film actor who they are honouring with this recognition. What is even more exciting is that I am the first of the young generation to represent my film industry to the English audience. And by doing this they do not honour me, they honour the young talent of the Indian film industry.”
