New Delhi: The Nana Patekar starrer crime thriller ‘Ab Tak Chappan 2' is racing ahead of Ayushmann Khurrana starrer ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha' at box office but for how long?

Yes, this isn't a big question as the reason for this action movie gaining more collection is just the comparative number of screen it has been released in.

‘Ab Tak Chhappan 2' that released in around 1375 screen fetched Rs 1.25 cr on Day 1 and with a slight rise on Saturday, the movie managed to make Rs 2.10 cr to take its two days total to Rs 3.35 cr nett in India, according to a leading Bollywood website Koimoi.

‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha', on the other hand, considering its lesser number of screens i.e., 760 did a good collection. The movie collectively has made Rs 3.10 cr nett in India in two days of its release. Also starring debutant Bhumi Pednekar, the movie has received terrific word of mouth and reviews from the critics.

This might help the movie to gain popularity slowly and gradually and also become a sleeper hit. Since, Ayushmann Khurrana's last couple of flicks namely ‘Bewakoofiya'n and ‘Hawaizaada' has been big duds; viewers have lost their faith in this ‘Vicky Donor' actor. However, DLKH could regain that lost faith and since it's a family entertainer, the movie might fetch more footfalls than other releases in the coming days and particularly around Holi next week.

‘Ab Tak Chhappan 2' belongs to the action lovers and people prefer this genre more than any other. But this sequel to 2004 hit hasn't gone down well with the critics and audience both. Nana Patekar's performance is the only saving grace for the flick. But since its companion's word of mouth is on high, ‘Ab Tak Chhappan 2' might get overshadowed in the coming days.

Next week there isn't any big release besides Mallika Sherawat's ‘Dirty Politics'. If ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha' gains momentum in the coming days, it might be tough for any old or new release to give it a run for the money.
