In Chandni Bar, the 2001 movie directed by Madhur Bhandarkar, Tabu plays the role of a village girl Mumtaz who is forced to perform at a dance bar. She is married to a gangster and the movie revolves around the troubles she faces after her husband gets killed in an encounter. She returns to the bar to raise her children.
