After a heartfelt critical and public response to Talvar, director Vishal Bharadwaj is all set to bounce back with another adaptation of a real crime story, with Junglee Pictures backing him up.

Starring Irrfan Khan, Talvar (2015) was based on the 2008 Noida double murder case, in which a teenage girl, Arushi, and her family servant were found murdered, and the girl’s parents were convicted for the crime. This time Vishal Bhardwaj has decided to take up Ryan International School murder case in which a 7-year old boy, Pradyuman Thakur, was found dead with his throat slit open in the school bathroom. Later it was revealed that his senior murdered him.

Talking to TOI about the second instalment of this celebrated franchise Talvar, Bhardwaj said, “Talvar was about much more than the heinous crime itself, the film held up a mirror to society and exposed several loopholes in the system. Such crimes shake the very moral fabric of society and need to be analysed in a much deeper sense. The world is not just black and white, there’s more to a crime than just victim and perpetrator. That’s why we have decided to continue making true crime procedurals like Talvar.”

For the makers, Talvar was not just an ordinary film but a depiction that had the power to change lives. The first flick was directed by Meghna Gulzar, however, there is no confirmation about who will direct Talvar 2
