Veere Di Wedding has continued to maintain its momentum at the box office. The film's Monday collection is Rs.6.04 crore, pushing its total to Rs. 42.56 crore. The film is eyeing a business of Rs. 54 crore in the first week of its release, reported trade analyst Taran Adarsh. “Fri 10.70 crore, Sat 12.25 crore, Sun 13.57 crore, Mon 6.04 crore. Total: Rs. 42.56 crore," Taran tweeted.
On the first day, Bhavesh Joshi garnered the business of only 0.30 crore, while it was expected to open at a range of 1.50-2 crores. From the next day, Vikramaditya Motwane’s directorial witnessed slight growth in footfalls due to a weekend and minted the amount of 0.35 crore on Saturday & 0.35 crore on Sunday and raised its 3-days total collection to 1 crore.
Theatre owners have now decided to cancel the shows, and allot them to the Sonam Kapoor starrer instead. Bhavesh Joshi opened in about 1000 screens across the country. Dissatisfied with the lack of footfall, cinema owners quickly reassigned the shows to other releases. The screenings have now dropped by 30 to 40%. An official from a leading multiplex told Mid-Day, "The morning shows of Bhavesh Joshi have been cancelled as we hardly had any audience opting for it. We have added more shows of Veere Di Wedding instead." It had to face competition not only from Veere but also from Raazi, Parmanu, Deadpool. If released on a different date, it might have done a better business.
