At the sixth day of its release, Salman Khan’s Tubelight minted Rs 100 crore at the box-office. This means that the Kabir Khan film became the sixth movie this year to cross the coveted 100 crore mark. Now, the first week collection is out, and the figures don’t look up to the mark for a Salman Khan film. Tubelight, which also starred Chinese actress Zhu Zhu, has minted Rs 106.86 crore on the seventh day of its opening.
The movie opened with Rs 21.15 crore and went on to mint Rs 95.86 crore in 5 days. Though, the collection of the film is low as compared to Salman’s previous films. Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh took to micro-blogging site Twitter to share the numbers. He tweeted, “#Tubelight Fri 21.15 cr, Sat 21.17 cr, Sun 22.45 cr, Mon 19.09 cr [Eid], Tue 12 cr, Wed 6.50 cr, Thu 4.50 cr. Total: ₹ 106.86 cr. India biz”.
Further the trade analyst also expressed his concerns over the film’s average performance at the box-office. “#Tubelight has been rejected.Post Eid festivities, the biz went downhill [especially on Wed and Thu].Day-wise data follows”, he said.
Before Tubelight, Salman’s previous films, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Ready, Bodyguard, Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo, Ek Tha Tiger, Dabangg 2, Jai Ho, Kick also made their place in the 100-crore club. It is yet to be seen what more wonders Tubelight has in store for movie buffs.
Directed by filmmaker Kabir Khan, Tubelight is set against the backdrop of 1962 Sino-Indian War. Along with Salman, the film also features Sohail Khan, Matin Rey Tangu and Chinese actress Zhu Zhu in pivotal roles.
