It’s been almost three months since 2018 has begun, and a number of Bollywood films have already made their way to the audience. While several failed to impress, there were some movies that won the hearts of the critics and public alike creating magic at the box-office. Right from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat to Anushka Sharma starrer horror flick Pari, have a look at the top five highest grosser Bollywood films of 2018 so far.
Padmaavat- Rs 300.26
Padmaavat has been absolutely unstoppable at the box office, ever since it hit the screens on January 25, after several hurdles. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, which crossed the Rs 200-crore mark in its second weekend, has become the highest-grossing film of Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor as well as the filmmaker. Now, the period drama has crossed the coveted Rs 300 crore mark in 50 days.
Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety- Rs 99.34
Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, that stars Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha and Sunny Singh in the lead roles, is all set to gain entry into the coveted Rs 100 crore-club. The film, on its fourth Sunday, added Rs 2.32 crore more to its kitty to take the 24-day total to a staggering Rs 99.34 crore.
PadMan- Rs 81.50
Akshay Kumar essayed the role of a taboo-breaker in PadMan, who aims to normalise talking about menstruation and goes on to invent a cheap sanitary napkin machine to help women in rural India. He based his character on the real-life PadMan, Coimbatore's Arunachalam Muruganantham. PadMan, which opened at Rs 10.26 crore, has earned Rs 81.50 crore at the box-office till now.
Raid- Rs 47.27
Ajay Devgn's Raid is unstoppable at the box office. The crime thriller, which has received a thumb up from critics as well as fans, is casting its spell at the ticket window with each passing day.
Raid, which opened at Rs 10.04 crore on Friday, is all set to enter the Rs 50-crore club. After collecting Rs 41.25 crore in its opening weekend, Raid collected Rs 6 crore on Monday, thus taking the total to Rs 47.25 crore.
Pari-Rs 27.05
Anushka Sharma’s horror flick Pari was definitely a bold move on the actor-producer’s part. But unfortunately, the Prosit Roy directorial failed to pull in as many viewers to the theatres. Having collected Rs 27.75 crore at the box office, Pari stands fifth in the list. Apart from Anushka, Pari also starred Parambrata Chatterjee, Ritabhari Chakraborty, Rajat Kapoor and Mansi Multani.
