Salman Khan’s action-packed drama Tiger Zinda Hai released on December 22 with rave reviews from critics across the country. The film opened at the theatres with roof-blowing records. It became the second biggest opener of the year 2017 with Baahubali 2 maintaining its top slot. On its first day, the film minted Rs. 35 crore according to the film trade analyst Taran Adarsh. As it is the extended weekend owing to Christmas falling on Monday, the film is expected to continue its pace at the box office till Monday.

The action-thriller film minted Rs 35.30 crore on its day 2, i.e. Saturday, making the total collection to Rs 69.40 crore in India. According to Taran Adarsh, the film is expected to cross Rs 100 crore on Sunday due to the weekend as well as Christmas.

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s Tiger Zinda Hai broke the records of Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3. In a statement to Indian Express, Director Ali Abbas Zafar expressed gratitude towards audience to make Tiger Zinda Hai such a massive hit. He said, “It is an overwhelming and a humbling moment. I thank the audiences for showering so much love on Tiger Zinda Hai. The cast and crew and the entire YRF team have toiled their hearts out and this incredible success will be cherished by all of us. I’m delighted that the film has lived up to the expectations of the fans of India’s biggest action hero Salman Khan and that audiences are enjoying the film across the country and giving us such huge thumbs up.”

Tiger Zinda Hai is a sequel to Salman Khan’s 2012 hit Ek Tha Tiger. It’s based on an ISI agent Zoya (Katrina Kaif) and an R&AW agent Tiger (Salman Khan) who are on a mission to rescue Indian nurses abducted by ISIL. The film features ex-lovers Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan together after a gap of 5 years. Audience as well as critics gave the credit to duo’s team work for film’s massive success.
