Thugs of Hindostan Box Office Collection Day 3: Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan’s film crosses Rs 100 crore mark
Thugs of Hindostan has been witnessing major drop in its box office collection owing to negative word of mouth publicity.
The latest Bollywood Diwali release Thugs of Hindostan, featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh has hit the Rs 100 crore mark in 3 days. The Vijay Krishna Acharya directed film hit the cinemas on Thursday and created havoc at the box -office by earning Rs 50.75 crore on day one. However, Thugs of Hindostan has been witnessing major drop in its box office collection owing to negative word of mouth publicity.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said, ""The DOWNFALL continues... #ThugsOfHindostan gets weaker with each passing day... With biz declining further on Day 3 [Sat], the writing is clear on the wall... Will find it tough to sustain from Day 5 [Mon] onwards..#ThugsOfHindostan decline in biz...Fri [vis-à-vis Thu]: 44.33% Sat [vis-à-vis Fri]: 19.47% Hindi version".
Thugs Of Hindostan released across a whopping 7000 screens worldwide, and its ticket prices also witnessed a hike of at least ten per cent. Reportedly, the prices in multiplexes ranged from Rs 400 to Rs 1,500, while the average price in single screens went up to Rs 200.
The film has not only had a ditto 3 day weekend as Race 3 across India but the collection break up is almost ditto which is sheer coincidence. If we look at the three main chains of PVR, Inox and Cinepolis and this is were bulk of the high ends are. Race 3 grossed 34.80 crore nett in these chains in 3 days and Thugs of Hindostan has done 34.25 crore apprx from the same three chains.
Another coincidence is the single screen business of the two is same over the first three days. Thugs Of Hindustan is 29.50 crore nett apprx and Race 3 was 29.05 crore nett. The edge here is that Thugs of Hindustan got the big holiday on day one when single screens are mad and the second day also where again single screens remain at high levels. Race 3 was pre eid so missed out on single screen business on day one at many places otherwise it would have been better in single screens despite Thugs Of Hindustan having the better date.
Aamir told PTI that he understands the producer's decision, he personally believes that tickets should be affordable. "I can understand. It is an expensive film. Personally, I am always for tickets to be cheaper. I think we should have theatres that are economical and people should go and watch the film in theatre."
In a massive blow to the makers of Thugs Of Hindostan, the entire film was leaked online by the piracy website TamilRockers. This is expected to make a huge dent in the collection of the film in the coming days.
